Email bounce guide
Introduction
Email bounces are one of the most frustrating things that can happen to your email marketing campaign. If your bounce rate is high and you don't know why, it's time to explore ways to improve your sending infrastructure and cut down on bounces. Luckily, Mailgun has resources available to help you with this process so that you can focus on putting an effective strategy in place rather than worrying about whether or not those emails will ever reach their destination!
Why Mailgun
Mailgun is a cloud-based email infrastructure service that makes it easy to send and receive email from any application.
Mailgun's API makes it easy to send and receive email from any application. It also provides high availability, delivering your emails at the same speed regardless of their size or number in transit.
Some of the biggest companies using Mailgun include Shopify, Github, and Instacart—and there are more than 500 other Fortune 500 companies using our service today!
Make sure your sending domain is set up properly
Now that you've got the basics down, it's time to make sure your sending domain is set up properly. To do this, we recommend using a third-party service like SendGrid or Mailchimp.
Make sure that the DNS (Domain Name System) of your sending domain is working properly. If you're not sure what this means or how it works, don't worry! Just know that if everything else is working correctly (like receiving emails), then your emails will be sent correctly as well.
It's also important that your IP address isn't blocked by any blacklists or other systems out there—this can cause delays in delivery and other issues down the road when trying to send large amounts of email at once through multiple websites simultaneously due to their inability/unwillingness (or both) to handle large amounts of traffic coming from one source at once."
Authenticate your sending domain and IP addresses
Your sending domain and IP addresses need to be authenticated. Mailgun can help you with that.
To set up your sending domain with Mailgun, follow these steps: 1) Sign into your account. 2) Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen, then click Domains (or whichever tab is relevant). 3) Type in a name for your new sending domain 4) Choose whether or not it will be publicly accessible 5) Select whether or not you want Mailgun to manage DNS records 6 7 8 If necessary, click Save changes
Warm up your IP address
A warm-up is when you send a large volume of emails with one or two clicks. This can be done in your email client by clicking on the "send" button and then clicking again before you actually click "send".
When sending an email blast, the first thing that should happen is warming up the IP Address (your computer's internet address). You do not want to do this if there are any other users connected to your network because it will cause multiple emails going out at once which could lead to some confusion on their part as well as yours.
If you don't use an auto reply from Gmail or Outlook then make sure that it says something like: “I'm sorry but I couldn't get back online yet—please try again later!”
